GIF versus JPEG

GIF versus JPEG. The Graphics Interchange Format (GIF) compression format is best used for images with solid areas of color, line drawings or logos, transparency effects, and animation. The Joint Photographic Experts Group (JPEG) format is most suitable for high-quality images such as photographs and detailed artwork. JPEGs handle subtle shadings and color blends more efficiently than GIFs.
